Ben Bronfman, Ph.D.

Ben Bronfman, Ph.D. is a principal in the Energy Services Group and a nationally recognized expert in energy program evaluation, technology assessment, and energy policy analysis. During a career spanning more than a quarter century, Dr. Bronfman has managed macro- and micro-level evaluations of energy conservation, new technology implementation, alternative futures, and urban development. Among the clients he has served are public utility commissions, investor-owned and municipal utilities, and public interest groups throughout North America. His international experience includes projects in Italy, Sweden, Ghana, and Nigeria.

From 2002 to 2006 Dr. Bronfman developed and managed evaluations of conservation and renewable energy programs for the Energy Trust of Oregon. Prior to that, he developed and managed the evaluation function at the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance from its inception in 1997 until 2002. He was a vice president at ERC International (formerly International Energy Associates, Ltd.) from 1983 to 1991. And from 1974 to 1983 he was group leader at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he directed a team of seven professionals in assessing and evaluating the social impacts of energy development and national energy assessments.

Ben Bronfman holds a doctorate in political science from the University of Oregon. He has more than 100 publications, reports, presentations, and seminars to his credit.
