Clean Energy
The field of clean energy has never been more important. As corporations, organizations, and government agencies battle rising energy costs, fast-changing regulatory constraints, and environmental impacts such as global climate change, Cadmus is uniquely positioned to lead the way to lower energy costs and workable solutions for clean energy technologies.Samples of recent and current projects include:
- Field Verification of Renewable Energy and Distributed Generation (DG) System Performance - Cadmus has conducted post installation inspections and monitoring studies on a range of renewable energy systems, from residential photovoltaic (PV) to wind/solar hybrid systems. Our team has inspected over 200 renewable energy/DG systems to identify and resolve issues, determine safety/structural adequacy, verify performance and compliance with codes/standards, and provide customer support. These services play a key role in the ongoing success of our clients’ programs and inform the design and implementation of effective, responsive RE/DG programs.
- Evaluation of Renewable Energy and Distributed Generation Program Impacts - The Cadmus Group has conducted evaluations of state level RE/DG programs, to gauge the effectiveness of these programs and their associated impacts on the regional market for renewable energy products and services. Cadmus is well versed in statistical and analysis techniques (e.g. Monte Carlo simulation, uncertainty and sensitivity analyses, and field monitoring) and can use these skills to provide timely, actionable feedback on program structure and implementation.
- Development of Multi Platform Systems to track Renewable Energy and Distributed Generation System Performance - Cadmus has significant experience in developing and administering software tools to help programs track and quantify program benefits from RE/DG project implementation. Cadmus has built the only system that successfully integrates both automated and manual reporting strategies for RE/DG technologies. Most importantly, Cadmus has the necessary skills and experience to customize this system to meet any program needs, insuring that our clients receive a useful, robust product, without having to pay for additional features that do not provide best possible value.
- Solar and Wind Site Surveys and Resource Assessments - The Cadmus Group provides site surveys and resource assessment support to a wide range of end use customers. The Cadmus team’s extensive experience includes shading analyses for residential PV systems, feasibility studies for integration of PV systems into public buildings, wind resource feasibility assessments, and other related services. Our team has access to the most widely accepted industry tools and skills to conduct site surveys for solar, wind, and other clean energy technologies.
Project Level Modeling Tools to Estimate Energy Benefits of Solar and Wind Projects Estimating the energy production of a renewable energy project can be difficult-and even more difficult to standardize across many users. To address this problem, our engineers have developed a number of software tools to assist project integrators, program managers, and others assess the generating potential of their site and simulate the energy production performance of proposed RE/DG systems.
These, and other, experiences, gives Cadmus a unique and valuable perspective that can help our clients answer the often difficult questions associated with clean energy projects and programs:
- How do I track and assign program benefits for a renewable energy project portfolio?
- Are my renewable energy projects providing the benefits I was promised?
- What state or national level policies should we focus on to effectively foster the cost effective growth of clean energy technologies?
- What are my clean energy program’s real, on the ground, impacts?
Our Clean Energy team recently developed these two tools in support of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative’s Small Renewables Initatitve
