Drinking Water Program Implementation

Drinking water has been a core Cadmus business since our founding in 1983. Our corporate capabilities to serve this vital market are unmatched in the consulting industry. As the largest contractor to the U.S. EPA's Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, we provide support in:
  • Health sciences through our work in rule development, risk assessment, and health and safety research support.
  • Engineering through training and the conduct of sanitary surveys and Comprehensive Performance Evaluations (CPEs), and the evaluation of treatment techniques
  • Survey research through conduct of national surveys such as the Community Water System Survey,and the Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Survey.
  • Regulatory analysis through managing and analyzing contaminant occurrence data and conducting risk and economic analyses for rule development.
  • Information systems through developing on-line data gathering and analysis systems, using XML to transfer source water data, and conducting audits of state drinking water data.
  • Program implementation and evaluation through development, implementation and evaluation support for programs such as Capacity Development and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund; development of regulatory compliance guides; providing training and technical assistance on rules; and providing crosswalks between federal and state regulations.
  • Training through development and conduct of regulatory training and developing training modules for EPA’s Drinking Water Academy,

We also work closely with communities, states, EPA, and public and private water systems on issues related to:

  • Rule development through preparation of contaminant occurrence analyses, monitoring methods studies, risk assessments, treatment cost and technology selection analyses, and economic (benefit/cost) analyses to support policy decisions.
  • Source water protection through delineation of protection areas, developing monitoring plans, identifying financial options, and conducting workshops and Webcasts.
  • Underground injection control through evaluations of best management practices, studies to manage Class V wells, and development of a national UIC database and PDA-compatible databases for well inspectors.
  • Drinking water security through policy and security integration support, development of vulnerability assessment tools and training, and development of lessons learned reports and recommendations.

Our drinking water and water resources team is staffed with more than 50 scientists, engineers, economists, statisticians, policy analysts, program evaluators, and communications professionals.
