Katharine Hastings

As head of the Environmental Solutions practice in the Voluntary Programs Group, Principal Katharine Hastings leads a team of communications, health policy, and building science professionals providing key contractor support to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Indoor Environments Division (IED). Ms. Hastings is an expert in protecting public health from environmental risks, designing innovative social marketing programs to increase public awareness and motivate action, and developing tools to help individuals, organizations, and industries manage their environments to improve health and performance.

Ms. Hastings heads our team providing support for EPA’s annual National Asthma Forum. She also has extensive experience with EPA’s Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools Program and National Symposium, the Healthy School Environments Assessment Tool project of the Children’s and Aging Health Protection Division, and the EPA Office of Water’s Lead in School and Daycare Drinking Water Initiatives. And she has designed, developed, and produced outreach materials such as bi-lingual materials for IED’s Smoke-Free Homes Program, Asthma Program, Radon Program, and Green Indoor Environments.

Kate Hastings holds a bachelor of arts, magna cum laude, in government and legal studies, with honors, and a minor in environmental science from Bowdoin College. She has a master of arts in government and international affairs, comparative politics, from the University of Notre Dame.
