Ken Seiden, Ph.D.

An economist and principal in the Energy Services Group, Ken Seiden, Ph.D.  leads the group’s strategic planning and application development practices. Dr. Seiden is an expert in demand side management (DSM) planning and evaluation; energy, peak, and end-use forecasting; and market planning, segmentation, and pricing. He is the original architect of End Use Forecaster, our DSM planning and strategic forecasting software package, and the Energy Efficiency Information System (EEIS), our DSM tracking system. He has held positions in the electric industry—with the Bonneville Power Administration—in the telecommunications industry—with Pacific Bell—and with several consulting firms besides Cadmus. He also has worked with the Electric Power Research Institute on several issues related to the restructuring of the electric industry, including forecasting, competitive pricing, and volatility in the price of electricity.

Dr. Seiden has published articles in Energy Policy, Energy Economics, The Electricity Journal, Applied Economics, and Public Choice. He has presented nearly 20 papers at various conferences. Ken Seiden holds a doctorate and a master of science, both in economics, from the University of Oregon and a bachelor of arts in economics from the University of Connecticut. He is a member of the Association of Energy Services Professionals.
