LEED Technical Assistance

The cadre of professionals on the Cadmus team, including analysts, architects, engineers, economists, and scientists, delivers a full array of technical expertise and hands-on experience. We have comprehensive experience in water, energy, and indoor air quality (IAQ) that stems from decades of supporting public-private partnerships, especially initiatives with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Cadmus’ interdisciplinary staff is available for any project. From energy analysis to water conservation methods, selecting a building site to customizing construction IAQ management plans, Cadmus offers project teams the technical advice crucial to each step of the LEED certification process. We also conduct the analyses required to demonstrate LEED prerequisite and credit fulfillment, and ably administer the project application.

Sustainable Sites & Water Efficiency

Our team of LEED Accredited Professionals advises on all technical aspects for achieving the requirements in the Sustainable Sites (SS) and Water Efficiency (WE) credit categories. We have experts who assist with stormwater management strategies, low-impact landscape management, and prevention of heat island effects. Our performance measurement and tracking services extent from energy to water, helping to establish water use baselines, set performance goals, and document credit achievement. Cadmus advises clients on the strategies and technologies best suited to their specific needs, such as advice on rainwater collection and graywater systems.

Energy Performance & Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Energy performance is a critical component of sustainability and earning LEED certification. The Cadmus team assists in energy analysis and modeling, measuring and tracking energy use, and designing and implementing energy management programs. As prime contractors for EPA’s ENERGY STAR in Commercial & Industrial buildings in the public sector for the past 10 years, we have unparalleled expertise in the use of Portfolio Manager as required for LEED-EB: O&M projects. We also have the tools and knowledge necessary to help our clients prioritize facility upgrades. Included in this might be preparing savings opportunity reports and cash flow projects, and establishing energy performance goals, target savings, and best practices. We provide continuous commissioning plan development and implementation, as well as advice on renewable energy purchasing options and monitoring and verification (M/V) services for performance-based contracts.

In tandem, Cadmus helps organizations meet their internal performance goals, local or regional climate goals, and state goals for reducing carbon emissions. Cadmus has abundant experience in benchmarking to establish energy use baselines and estimation of greenhouse gas emissions baselines, and we provide our clients with greenhouse gas emissions and reductions documentation assistance.

Indoor Air Quality & Materials

The Cadmus Green Building team understands the importance of not only building performance, but also the well-being of building occupants. That is why our team helps clients meet LEED requirements for Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) and Materials & Resources (MR) prerequisites and credits.

While heavily invested in improving building energy performance, we understand and apply the linkages between outdoor air supply rates, energy consumption, and occupant needs. This includes coordinating carbon dioxide measurement and corresponding automations, measuring and documenting results, and suggesting retrofits as necessary.

In addition to ventilation, Cadmus provides support in the development and implementation of environmentally preferred purchasing strategies. Our services include evaluating the performance, toxicity, recyclability, composition, and origin of interior and exterior building products; as well as advice on waste reduction and recycling plans.
