Cadmus Continues Support for NEEA Motor Studies

WALTHAM, Mass., October 21, 2016—The Cadmus Group, Inc. (Cadmus) announced today that it will continue its support for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance’s (NEEA’s) motor research on one new and one renewed contract.

ACE Model Assumptions for Motor Rewinds

NEEA has renewed Cadmus’ contract to evaluate its Alliance Cost Effectiveness (ACE) model assumptions for motor rewinds for an additional year. Green motor rewinds improve the efficiency of used motors by returning them to, or near, their original performance levels. The Drive Power Initiative, via the Green Motor Initiative and the Green Motors Practices Group, encourages the Northwest’s motor service center market to adopt green motor rewind practices. This year’s evaluation entails evaluation of NEEA’s key ACE model assumptions for the motor rewind market as part of long-term monitoring and tracking efforts to determine market progress.

Electric Motors Standard Assessment

Cadmus has been asked to assess NEEA’s and other organizations’ role in the establishment of the amended electric motors standard. For this study, Cadmus will use an innovative approach for determining the attributable share of savings based on energy savings generated relative to the counterfactual scenario where NEEA and other energy efficiency advocates did not participate in the standards rulemaking process. Previous attribution assessments have assigned a share of total savings credit rather than using a calculated share based on the counterfactual scenario.
