Cadmus Donates Green Earth Award-Winning Books to Morrison Child and Family Services

Waltham, Mass., August 23, 2013—The Cadmus Group, Inc. (Cadmus) has donated 530 children’s books to Portland-based Morrison Child and Family Services, a nonprofit organization that delivers specialized services to children and families coping with adversity and trauma, as part of an ongoing partnership that began in 2000. Each of the donated books is a recipient of The Nature Generation’s Green Earth Book Award, the first award in recognition of exceptional children’s literature that fosters stewardship of the natural environment.

Funds were raised through environmental nonprofit The Nature Generation’s Corporate Green Book Buy program, which assists a participating company by hosting and facilitating Green Earth Award book drives for a nonprofit organization or school of the company’s choice. Cadmus has partnered with The Nature Generation in an ongoing commitment to support the organization’s mission of empowering youth to make a difference; in addition, Cadmus President and CEO Ian Kline serves on The Nature Generation’s Executive Board.

Within 24 hours of the donation, Morrison representatives reported, every book had been placed in the Morrison Center library or distributed to children participating in the organization’s Hand in Hand program. The Hand in Hand program provides individualized treatment and inpatient and outpatient services for children who have been severely abused or neglected.

“Everyone at Cadmus is inspired by the incredible work Morrison Child and Family Services does to improve children’s lives, and I’m very proud that we’ve been able to help in our way,” said Kline. “None of this would have been possible without our partners at The Nature Generation, who share our belief that it’s never too early to begin fostering a sense of our shared responsibility to protect the natural environment and each other. We look forward to continuing our relationships with both of these transformative organizations for many years to come.”

Kline traveled to the company’s Portland office to present the books to Morrison Child and Family Services CEO Drew McWilliams, Hand in Hand Program Division Director Monica Ford, and Director of Development Leslie Brock.

Cadmus’ Portland office has donated time and support to Morrison Child and Family Services through numerous initiatives, including a monthly employee donation, garden clean-ups at the Morrison Center, and supply drives throughout the year.
