Cadmus Speaks At Boulder’s Hippest Energy Efficiency Event

October 25, 2012 — James Barry, senior analyst at Cadmus, gave a high-speed overview of three energy-efficient hybrid cars in five minutes at switch~2, said to be energy efficiency’s most cutting-edge event. James’ talk was called “Dude, Where’s My Car? A Car-Buying Guide for Signaling a Shift to the Marketplace.” He reviewed the Tesla Model X, the BMW X6 Active Hybrid, and the Mitsubishi Evo XI.

switch~ is a series of events that celebrates the energy industry by giving thought leaders and change makers an entertaining platform from which to present their work and ideas. The Association of Energy Service Professional’s Rocky Mountain Chapter manages the switch~ series, and Cadmus is one of the sponsors.

Besides being a senior analyst in Cadmus’ Energy Services Division (ESD), James is the chapter’s vice president. And Vanessa Frambes, also an ESD senior analyst, is the chapter’s treasurer. Vanessa opened and closed the event, introduced the chapter president, and transitioned from the presentations to the networking portion of the evening.

Each presenter at a switch~ event is required to give a five-minute talk complete with 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds. The effect is a cross between a TEDx talk and a comedy routine as speakers struggle to keep up with their slides, much to the enjoyment of the audience.

Joining James as presenters were award-winning energy professionals from around Colorado, including the Colorado Cleantech VC of the Year and the chief executive officer of E-Source. The presentations had something for everyone, covering such topics as energy efficiency in commercial buildings, Cleantech 2.0, and power generation from Thorium.

Nearly 350 energy professionals attended the event at The Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado. Many in attendance remarked about how much fun they had and how much they learned, even with the rapid-fire format.
